Fast pace in Paris Marathon

On Sunday April 5th over 31,000 runners lined up on the Champs-Élysées to take a 42.2 kilometer tour of Paris.

The marathon produced an exceptional level of elite performances. Winner of the men’s event Vincent Kipruto of Kenya set a course record of 2:05:47, while another five men finished under 2:07. This makes yesterday’s race one of the fastest of all time. The women’s race also produced recording breaking performances with Atsede Bayisa of Ethopia setting a new personal best in a race dominated by her countrywomen; five of the top ten finishers were Ethopian.

The race course and conditions were optimal, only the high humidity, reaching almost 85% in the morning, was a challenge for the runners. There was a total field of 31,000 participants, a few of which were ASICS employees.

Senior manager of Product marketing Jurian Elstgeest ran his second marathon on Sunday in Paris. Having ran New York in 3:34:58 last November, he planned to take advantage of the flatter course and better his time. Yesterday he succeeded in setting a new personal best of 3:13:51. Everyone at ASICS would like to congratulate Jurian on this achievement. He is surely a reflection of our motto of Sound Mind, Sound Body. You can watch Jurian in action during the marathon here He is the guy in the yellow long sleeve shirt, hat and hands on his head.

Félicitations to all runners! See you at the next race, and in the meanwhile, share your experience in the comments section below. And get your results on the Paris Marathon site.
